In an effort to garner more ticket sales over the holiday weekend Warner Brothers has moved the opening of Superman Returns from Friday June 30 to Wednesday June 28. With strong competition coming a week later from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest Warner Brothers wants to make sure Superman Returns has every opportunity to establish an audience.
The trailer for Ghost Rider is now available. It's scheduled for release on February 16, 2007. Why they'd release a Ghost Rider movie on Valentine's Day weekend instead of Halloween weekend is beyond me.
McFarlane Toys has landed the license for ABC's Lost and will begin producing action figures this fall. The first series will consist of 6 figures: Jack, Kate, Hurley, Locke, Charlie and Shannon. These figures will come individually packed and in boxed sets/dioramas of locations seen throughout the series. Future series will include Sawyer and Mr. Eko.
CBS Paramount Television Studios is cleaning out their and will allow Christie's to hold the first official Star Trek auction. The auction of more than 1,000 lots totaling some 4,000 items wil be held from October 5 to 7 to co-incide with the 40th anniversary of the original Star Trek series.
Items of note for the auction will be a miniature model of the Starship Enterprise used for visual effects in Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country and a replica of Kirk's Captain's chair used in the Deep Space Nine episode Trials and Tribble-ations. There will also be some of Captain James Kirk's uniforms, Captain Jean-Luc Picard's jumpsuits and various props, weapons, prosthetics and set dressings.
Mercy Reef, the Aquaman series Smallville producers Al Gough and Miles Millar were developing for the then The WB network, wasn't picked up for the Fall line-up by the new WB/UPN hybrid The CW.
Also, a series based on the Image Comics series Ultra that was being developed for CBS failed to make their Fall schedule.
NBC has seen its once dominating status among the major networks dwendle to nothing. On Monday the network revealed a Fall line-up that relies on Dramas to push it back to the top. Monday nights will be home to the show Heroes which will follow 4 friends who are suddenly granted super-powers and how they deal with them.
Upcoming Iron Man director Jon Favreau has set up a myspace.com page to get input from fans about various topics relating to the movie. This is Favreau's second foray into Marvel movies. He played Foggy Nelson in Ben Affleck's Daredevil.
