Big Blue Arndt: October 2007 Archives
Today, over on his website radio host, former Congressional candidate, and former actor of awesomeness Jerry Doyle (he played Michael Garibaldi on Babylon 5, if you are are young or apathetic), has posted the following poll:
You can answer as either a man or a woman.
TODAY'S POLL
Which do you hate more when arguing with your significant other? The silent treatment or a screaming match?
It's probably best you do so truthfully.
As for myself, who has no significant other, aside that I live with my mother and I am not making a substitution for this purpose, I can only imagine the possibilities. Being entirely hypothetical I bet/anticipate that I would rather engage in a screaming match with my woman. I've had the silent treatment from women; I've been ignored entirely (and routinely) by women whom I bloody well am acquainted with and so the cold shoulder isn't new to me. Being ignored by actual friends (or I thought they were friends, go figure), for whatever reason, isn't new either. (It's hard to tell whether it's the cold shoulder or an initial deliberate execution of a long term plan to tune me out and I'm too much of a loaner jerk to broach the subject and repair a relationship).
So hypothetically, I'll go for the shouting match, because that sounds new. Besides, it sounds like an investment or symbolic of greater meaning or whatnot.
That said, for guys like Tom, Hutch, and Phil this isn't a hypothetical and they actually have official and lifelong relationship ties with actual women. I wonder how they decide. How do you?
