Alan Kistler, Comic Book Historian: May 2007 Archives

Remember Mark Millar's first story-arc in THE AUTHORITY? Where he gave us a world where Jack Kirby didn't become a comic book storyteller but instead was recruited by the government to think of as many crazy ideas as he could and they did their best to make them all real? It led to real life super-heroes and insane technology in the modern world.

So what if that really happened?

Guess what ...?

It's happening right now!

Chris Nolan and Heath Ledger have both been reassuring everyone that their vision of the Joker will be dark and menacing in the upcoming movie THE DARK KNIGHT, sequel to the hit BATMAN BEGINS. Heath Ledger himself has said he is basing his interpretation largely on Alan Moore's "The Killing Joke." If you're unfamiliar with "The Killing Joke", go buy it. It involves flashbacks to the Joker's possible origin, a horrible kidnapping of Commissioner Jim Gordon, and is historically important as its the story wherein Barbara Gordon was crippled, leading her to go from the original Batgirl to becoming the new hero Oracle.

Below then is the first OFFICIAL PHOTO of Heath Ledger as the Joker.

Yet another trailer, this time showing some serious action scene footage as our favorite robots battle each other and the U.S. military.

What are you waiting for?

Well, we've seen how the Mark I prototype armor will look in the upcoming live action IRON MAN film. Now we finally have some serious stills of what the red and gold suit will look like, as well as a picture of Tony Stark forging the Mark I armor. Enjoy!

NOTE: This is a companion piece to my article "Transformers: Cartoons vs. Movie." This companion piece has various stills from the upcoming Transformers movie.

I've said it a million times. If John Wayne were a giant transforming robot who carried a big honkin' gun, he would be Optimus Prime.

Peter Cullen was the voice of Optimus Prime and Ironhide from the original Transformers cartoon series. He was also the voice of Eeyore, Monterey Jack from Disney's Rescue Rangers and Murky Dismal from Rainbow Brite. Most of you know that months back he was cast to reprise the role of Optimus Prime, leader of the Autobots, in the upcoming Transformers live-action film. Recently, he gave an interview on tformers.com.

Sadly, the interview wasn't really edited (at least not very well) and is really, really long and at times repetitive (in my opinion). So for you guys who just want the major points, I've edited it down to the highlights, which you can check out below.
