Plot
Sand and Black Canary are confronting Johnny Sorrow, with Dr. Mid-Nite lying dead and Louis Sendak getting injected with the tears of the Spectre. Sand remembers the origin of Johnny Sorrow, when he died during an encounter with the JSA in 1944. Sorrow came back 6 months later, taking Sandy and revealing he had been in the Subtle Realms and the beings there had changed him so he could bring the King of Tears back into reality. Sorrow had killed a group of heroes in Chicago called the Seven Shadows, with only the Scarab escaping. The JSA bursts in, summoned by the Scarab, and starts fighting Sorrow. Sorrow releases the King of Tears, which is too much for most of the JSA, but the Spectre manages to transform it into his tears, which Green Lantern gathers. Back in the present, the King of Tears erupts from Louis Sendak, with only Sand and Black Canary to face him.
