Plot
The issue starts with Atom Smasher's mother dying in a plane crash caused by Kobra. Director Bones then recruits the JSA to go after Kobra, who has captured Air Wave and is using his powers to control the electromagnetic spectrum. As they finish the briefing, the original Star-Spangled Kid, Sylvester Pemberton, walks in wanting to know why Sand is sitting in his chair. Hourman then realizes that Extant is back, messing with the time stream again, thus causing Star-Spangled Kid to be alive. They call in the reserve members, then split up, part of the team going after Extant on Hourman's Timeship, the rest going to take out Kobra. Sand reaches Air Wave, only to be stopped by Catalyst, then have his head blown off by Kobra on live TV.
