Plot
Snapper Carr is attacked by a group of men who dislike him for hanging around with super-heroes; he is saved, however, by John Dough, the most normal man in America.Green Arrow trains with Black Canary who is trying to come to terms with her new sonic cry when an alarm is raised; noticing other League members are closer, Arrow decides not to answer. The alert was sent by Snapper who is with Dough and working for him. Batman and Atom answer the alert and Snapper uses laughing gas on them and between them they overpower the Leaguers. Dough imprisons Batman, placing him in front of a TV screen so he can watch Dough defeat the League. At the sanctuary, the League discuss Dough when Batman - Dough in disguise - appears and offers them all tickets to see Dough give a lecture. Snapper appears, however, and incites the crowd against the super-heroes, starting a fight which the League have to flee from.Batman escapes and realises who John Dough really is; he rushes to where Dough, disguised as Batman, is giving evidence to a committee claiming the League had been planning to overthrow the government. Batman arrives and unmasks Dough but he escapes in the confusion, leaving the League to question Snapper who admits he still believes in Dough. The League, under Batman's orders, return to the sanctuary and Black Canary manages to use her sonic cry to knock Dough over, allowing Batman to unmask him as the Joker.
